Practice : Hiraeth

Exploring my arts practice has led me to working on mixed media that explore themes of hiraeth, nostalgia, home, faith, memories, language and connections. I have incorporated collage elements and painting using my mother tongue, Welsh, as a form of communication and metaphor throughout the work. 

Using carefully curated found personal letters, books, community newspapers, maps, health booklets and reports for the collage elements, I explore moments, key stages and memories throughout my life, inspired by my home where I was brought up in a small Welsh speaking rural village to now living bilingually in an urban city.
